A day full of surprises! Today's weight 255lbs. (down 10.5lbs)

Today was full of surprises. First day back to work, flowers left at my desk this morning, patient's who missed me and the most surprising of all was that lunch was catered today. It was grilled lean steak fajitas, green salad w/tomatoes, and a variety of dressings, as well as unsweetened tea. I measured out my steak strips, made a small salad with lettuce and tomato only, and uses 2 Tbsp of Vinaigrette dressing. It was good not having to come home for lunch today. While everyone else ate sugary chocolate cake with white icing, I had a valencia orange that was just as sweet, but more satisfying. I felt good!

Meals today:

Breakfast: Coffee w/1 Tsp milk & Splenda

Snack: 1 apple & melba toast

Lunch: Steak fajita strips, above mentioned salad w/vinaigrette dressing & unsweetened Tea. 1 Orange.

Snack: Nothing

Dinner: Microwaved boneless chicken breast w/ broccoli and a slice of tomato with water to drink.

Bedtime: Nothing

STOP! LOOK BOTH WAYS! - PROCEED! Traffic has slowed today! Day 9 - Today's weight 255lbs (holding down 11.5lbs)

No disaappointment about no weight loss! I know exactly what happened! I didn't get in all my water yesterday, and that for sure is what affected my weight. I think I will see a change tomorrow (I hope). It will be a new routine for me as I go back to work. Will have to put in place my new "staying on track" plan so I want yield to the tempations that will be waiting for me at lunch time everyday when I go to work. That's what life is about! Challenges, and setbacks, Hills & valleys, Ups and Downs. Bring it on!

Meals planned for today:

Coffee w/1Tbsp milk.

Snack: Apple & Melba toast (as I will be away from home)

On The Move Again!

Day 8-The Scales are moving again! Today's weight - 255.0lbs. (down 11.5) pounds.

Well a move in the right direction this morning. Good to see, especially since this is the first day of the 2nd week on the VLCD. I have my first weigh-in at the doctors office on Monday. I have prepared a list of questions for her concerning the plan and hopefully she will be able to give me some answers. Also, answers to questions regarding the cardiac workup that peformed on my first visit. I need some results.

Truly, the water is the most important thing on this plan or in any plan for that matter. There is a difference when you do not get in at least 90% of your water in daily. It seems that anything less than 90% results in a gain or a stand still in your weight.

Meals for today:

Breakfast: Coffee w/Splenda & 1tbsp milk.

Snack: Apple & water

Lunch: 3 1/2 oz Whiting fillets seasoned and broiled, Cabbage slaw (made with allowed spices), Melba Toast.

Snack: 1/2 Grapefruit w/ Splenda

Dinner: 3 1/2oz Steak or boneless lean pork broiled, Asparagus & Romaine salad w/ Vinaigrette dressing, Grissini breadstick.

Bedtime: Coffee or Green Tea

Today is Sunday, so the lean steak will be good to have. Looking forward to week 2. The goal according to the Doc is 20lbs in a month. I'm halfway there alreaday!

Truck Stop Mode!

Still NO LOSS Today's weight 256.0lbs (down 10.5lbs). I guess it could be worse. Last Saturday this time I was 266.5lbs. 10 pounds is nothing to "Shake a stick at". I 'm thankful. Just longing to make my first mini goal I set for myself, and that was to be below 250lbs in a month. I'm impatient because it's only been a week! LOL!

Anyway will be busy today, but have meals planned:

Coffee w/1 Tbsp milk, splenda

Apple & water

Broiled boneless chicken breast (3 1/2oz), Spinach 3 1/2oz) sauteed with some onion powder, and garlic & water

1/2 Grapefruit with Splenda

Steamed shrimp and Broccoli

Optional: Green Tea.

Keep on Movin' Day 6 - Today's weight still 256lbs. (down 10lbs)

Trying to keep motivation going. I've dieted so much in the past that it doesn't take much to lower motivation. The weight loss is a good motivation, but it's gonna take more than that this time! I'm learning. Weight loss is about more than the weight. It's about changing your life, including the way you think about yourself, not just the way you think about the food. I haven't really experienced this personally, but others, I know, that have successfully changed their lives, as well as their bodies all tell me the same things. You can see it when you look at them, even from a distance.

Any hoo....

Meals for today are:

Coffee w/1Tbsp milk & Splenda

1/2 Grapefruit

3 1/2oz lean beef sirloin broiled, 3 1/2oz boiled cabbage, water

Granny Smith apple

Steamed shrimp and broccoli, water.

Out for coffee with a friend

OK...I'm still hungry What This?

I'm still hungry! No real loss either! Today's weight -256.0lbs No loss

It could be because...Well I'm not sure why! Today I weighed my food as instructed, but I did eat 2 Grissini bread sticks at dinner. Maybe that's the reason. I went back to read the Simeons Pounds & Inches Manuscript, and went over the Releana VLCD that was given to me by my Doc. All I can come really come up with, is that because I'm a woman, I lose weight differently and a different rate. I leanred that even though the amount of weight lost during Phase II is pretty much the same for both men and women, that the amount of loss on a daily basis is different. Example, where a man may continue to lose at the rate of 1 to 3 pounds a day, a woman may lose a pound one day, then gain nothing another day, and have a dramatic loss the next day. I understand the lack of a weight drop, but I'm wondering why I'm hungry?

Well, I'm not quitting, just want some answers or reassurance. Will see the Doc on Monday to weigh in. Will see what she has to say.

Meals today were:

Coffee w/ 1Tbsp skim milk 1 packet Splenda

Apple & water

3 1/2 oz micro-steamed shrimp over spinach leaves topped with pureed tomatoes, cucumbers, allowed Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt & pepper, 4 tbsp water. & water to drink. 1 Grissini breadstick.

1 orange & water

3 1/2 oz Boneless chicken breast seasoned and oven broiled, 3 1/2oz Asparagus tips w/garlic powder, Crystal lite to drink.

Nothing before bed.

I did drink all my water today plus! I will leave off the Grissini or melba toast tomorrow and the Crystal lite (even though the Doc says it's OK). I'm not allowed to do cardio exercises because of the severe calorie restriction, it's not good for my heart. I'm allowed to start some mild weigh training twice weekly though. I have a home gym (my husband's) so I will start there. Bought a new machine that came today called the Body Energizer! It's a body vibrator. My Doc has one in her office and patient's that are enrolled in the weight loss programs are allowed to use the machine twice a week for free. Since I will be working, and not able to get to her office, I managed to find a machine for personal use online at Amazon.com. It vibrates the body thus causing the unwanted fat cells to breakdown and be absorbed into the blood stream and then be excreted from the body via the kidneys. I'm really sure about the science of this machine, but supposedly using this machine for 10 minutes is the equivalent of 1 hour of aerobic exercise. I tend to believe that based on the way I felt after trying it in the office! I felt as if my legs, arms and hips were burning, like they do when I walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes to an hour. I'll use this twice a week until I can add more food to my diet and begin light cardio workouts.

HUNGER!...Oh, the HUNGER!

Being away from the house IS going to be a problem for me next week. I need to start planning what I will be taking to lunch daily, and figure out a way to split my meals to carry me through the day. I thought focusing on working would help, but even after I had lunch today, I was still hungry an hour later.

I think I'm going to need some help!

I'm scheduled to weigh-in on Monday 4/28. I wonder if I can see the Nutritionist or something? Something else is gonna have to be done. If I can't take and appetite suppressant, I'm not sure what I will do. I pray that my cardiac evaluation turns out negative. I also hope that if I can't do an appetite suppressant, maybe my allowed foods can be changed or expanded.

Something has gotta give...a little!

I have committment, I understand that this is not something I can put down and pick up at will. I'm willing to stick it out as long as necessary if I could just control the hunger! I feel a little stupid after touting this plan to a friend, and talking about not being very hungry! Well, to correct my misinformation, you DO get hungry after being on the plan more than 3 days. An appetite suppressant, if you can take them, will be extremely helpful!

I'm still hangin' in!
Just trucking along! - Day 4 - Today's weight 256.5lbs (down 9.5lbs)

Another good day for me. No frustration yesterday. Excited about the loss. Almost 10lbs gone. Will be out of the house today, so I will get a chance to see if that will make a difference in my hunger. Will make sure to take a snack and water.

I just need to get IT out.

It's late and I needed to just get out how I'm feeling. Hunger hasn't been a problem today. Just plain old boredom. Being 4 weeks postop surgery and off work for that long, is very frustrating. I am eager to get back to work and be around people. I haven't figured out how I'm going to cope with the issure of food once I do get back to work. While I'm home, I know I will do well at losing weight, but work is another story. With lunches being brought in everyday, I won't be able to afford not being prepared without a lunch from home everyday. One good thing though, is that I live about 10 minutes (in traffic) from my house so I can come home for lunch. I've pretty much decided, that is what I'm going to do everyday, but on the day when we're too busy, I will have to be prepared with a lunch from home.

Another thing to think about is the fact that I will most definitely have to prepare my dinner and lunch the night before, for the next day. I've had trouble doing this in the past when I've tried to lose weight. There are so many things to think about. I guess that's why it's called a "Lifestyle Change". It's way more than just losing weight.

I try to remember (but I forget sometimes) that in order to take care of everyone else, I have to take care of myself first. If for no other reason, than because my daughter is watching me. I do not want her to go through the struggles with weight that I have gone through (unsuccessfully I might add). I stress and emphasize to her the importance of watching what she eats, and getting daily exercise, and for the most part, she is listening and tries very hard. It's easy for her because all she has to be concerned with and focus on is herself and school. It's not really a priority for her yet, because that's all she has to do. I'm hoping when she is on her own someday, she won't lose the focus she has on her health, in the midst of career, and other worldly responsibilities that come with being an adult. Anyway, I just needed to get a few things out. to make myself feel better.
Day 2 - Put one foot in front of the other! Todays's weight 263.5lbs ( down 3lbs)

Yesterday wasn't too bad, once I had lunch. It was tough getting through breakfast time without eating anything. I did use about 4oz of diet soda to help with getting some kind of taste in my mouth though along with drinking my water during the morning. Was a little irritable. Believes it was the hunger pangs that caused it. Even though I'm down 3lbs, (water weight I'm sure) I'm not excited yet. It's when I see more than 10lbs gone, will I start to get excited. Still, for me water weight has been very hard to get rid of, so the 3lbs is welcomed.

Yesterday's meals:
Releana Sublingual HGH upon awakening.
Breakfast: Coffee w 1 tablespoon milk and artificial sweetener. Sips of diet soda, total 4 oz.

Lunch: 3 1/2 oz steamed shrimp seasoned with garlic, 3 1/2 oz broccoli, water.

Dinner: Imitation crab meat (I know not allowed but didn't realize until I got it home) lettuce, dressing made with mustard powder, minced garlic, salt & pepper, old bay seasoning and a little water. Water to drink. 5 Large strawberries.

Green Tea late evening.

Plan to add 30 minute walk today. Emotions are high with anticipation of the next day!

Day 1 - Beginning of the rest of my life!

Today is day 1 of a VLCD (very low calorie diet) with the use of sublingual HGH. (weight 266.5lbs)I'm feeling very hungry right now. I will have to get use to NOT eating anything for breakfast. I can only have non-calorie beverages for breakfast. This morning I had coffee w/Splenda and 1 tbsp of milk. I really have to get use to this. I am experiencing some quizziness, but compared to how I usually feel after eating something that know I don't need, I think I can handle it. Besides it's almost Lunch time for me.

I haven't really taken my measurements personally. They were taken at my first doctor's visit though, but I don't remember what they were exactly.Usually and appetite suppressant is given with this program, but as I am being evaluated for heart condition, I will forego this aspect of it, unless she says I'm able to take a very low dosed one.

Here is what I am allowed to have each day until I reach my goal, and go into maintenance:

Breakfast: Any non-calorie fluids such as Tea/coffee, soda water, mineral water, diet soda (up to 2 cans a day), water -at least 10 glasses a day. (2 liters)

Lunch & Dinner: 3 1/2 oz of lean protein such as Veal or steak (free range only - no hormones), chicken without skin, Shrimp, Lobster, Crab meat White fish (Halibut, Swordfish, Bass, Flounder, Pike Brooke trout, Jew fish, John dory, Snapper.) NO turkey, NO ground beef.

Vegetables- Lunch & Dinner: 3/12 oz of selected vegetables- Broccoli, Cauliflower, Zucchini, Cabbage, Leek, onion, Chicory, Spinach, green salad, Chard, Beet greens, Tomatoes, Celery, Cucumber, Asparagus, Red radishes, Fennel. NO Pumpkin, Beetroot, Potatoes, Carrots, Peas, or, Corn.

Fruit- Two portions per day, at least 6 hours apart: Apple, Strawberries (6 large), Orange, 1/2 Grapefruit.

Extras:
*One tablespoon of milk a daily
*Use artificial sweeteners. NO SUGAR!!
*Salt, Pepper, Vinegar, Mustard Powder, Garlic, Sweet-Basil, Parsley, thyme, marjoram,
*and other spices are freely available as seasonings.
*NO Margarine, Butter, Oil, Dressing
*Juice of 1 lemon daily

I have to say, I do not do diet soda, but when I just have to have something with a taste or flavor, a couple of sips does the trick! I'm also to take Lipotropic tablets, potassium and a multi-vitamin everyday. Exercise has not been mentioned, but I plan to start a walking regimen daily! I do see Yoga in my future. I have a long way to go, but I have to remember, I didn't get fat over night (although I gained several pounds at a time over night), so I won't lose weight over night. It's like the title of my blog says, "I WILL lose weight, I AM losing weight!"
